Jericho James
Age: 30
Species: Hybrid (newly turned)
Relationship: Engaged
Shares Life With: Natasha
Jericho was born and raised in San Diego, California. He was the oldest of 4 siblings in a poor, blue collar family. He has made his way through life as a good, decent guy. He is smart, athletic, hard working, amazingly humble, and naive to a fault. He was the guy a lot of girls wanted to be with, but he hardly ever dated. Not that he wasn't interested, he was just always preoccupied. He was a talented athlete, playing QB on his high school's football team and was a star pitcher on the baseball team. His best friend was a girl named Michelle, who was his next door neighbor since they were four.
His life was just like any other person's until the night of his high school prom. At the after party, he caught a guy trying to rape a girl friend of his. He attacked the guy to save the girl. During the fight, Jericho pushed the other guy over a balcony railing on accident. The guy fell 3 stories and died, triggering Jericho's curse. Jericho was cleared of any wrong doing by the police, but he still paid a price. He lost his football scholarship to USC and any opportunity at another anywhere else. He ended up taking a job a pizza place until the night of the first full moon since prom night. He transformed and during his rampage, he killed his youngest brother, Jake. He was thrown out of his parents' home, and told never to come back. Heartbroken at the loss of his littlest brother and being disowned by his parents, Jericho confessed to Michelle that he was going to leave so he wouldn't hurt anyone again. Michelle was shocked to hear this and confessed to Jericho that she was actually in love with him. They made love, losing their virginity to each other. Afterward, Jericho felt even worse. Now he had to protect Michelle from the monster he was now, he believed. Until he could learn exactly what he was about now, he had to leave. Jericho slipped out in the middle of the night, never looking back.
Jericho went from town to town, across the country, taking temporary construction work to get by, and finding abandoned places to hide during full moons. One day, on a job in North Carolina, one of Jericho's coworkers told him about the town of Mystic Falls. He was told it was town of weirdos and supernatural freaks. Jericho felt like Mystic Falls was the place where maybe he could make a home, and maybe learn about himself.
Jericho wants nothing more than to settle down and live a peaceful life. He is amazingly friendly, but he is also very trusting. Jericho is not the violent type and hates his werewolf side, choosing to chain up at every full moon. Jake's death hangs over him every day, and he is looking to be redeemed in some way. He is a big believer in karma, and has little patience for rude and cruel people. Once he arrived in Mystic Falls, this was how he lived. However, he was only town for a few days before his life would change forever.
A stranger tripped over Jericho's feet while he waited for a cab outside the Grill. Upon seeing the beautiful redhead in front of him, he became smitten. They recognized each other as wolves. Jericho had met a woman who could understand him. This instantly drew him to her. They agreed to a date later at the 4th of July carnival in the park. They shared cotton candy. He won her a plush toy at a game booth, He even got her onto the ferris wheel just as the fireworks started. He kissed her at the top of the wheel. She kissed him back. They never looked back from there.
Their love encountered few bumps. Jericho and Natasha seemed destined to be happy. Klaus Mikaelson had different ideas. In an effort to increase his hybrid numbers, he ambushed Jericho in the woods and forcibly turned him. He forced doppelganger blood down Jericho's throat, completing the transition and turning Jericho into something he never wanted to be. Knowing the trouble he was in, Nat whisked him away from Mystic Falls. They ran to the home of a friend of Jericho's in Eastern Kentucky. There, Nat taught him how to control his urges and to break the sire bond. Jericho succeeded, but at a cost. His new existence caused him to hate himself and grow distant from Nat. He couldn't love himself, so how could Nat love him?
They returned to Mystic Falls, but not the same as when they left. They had a Valentine's Day dinner, and it was nearly their last. When Nat confessed how awful she had been feeling that they were so distant, Jericho couldn't bear that he had hurt her. After explaining his feelings, Nat once again proved how wonderful she was. She eased his guilt and at the same time, opened him to a new level of passion. Now, more in love than ever, they seek to make their lives perfect for all of eternity. Jericho proposed on their 1 year anniversary as a couple, and Nat made him the happiest man ever by saying yes.
